Thought for the week:

Numbers 6:22-2622 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them, 24 The Lord bless you and keep you;  25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.  27 So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.

Sometimes my week seems way too busy.  My calendar seems to be overflowing; my mind is running overtime and there seems to be an unending list of “to do’s.”  I’ve found that there is a cure for feeling hassled and overwhelmed – take a few minutes to be in the presence of God.  The more hassled you feel, the more you need this sacred time of communion.  You can do this wherever you are – in the car, at your desk, sitting at a ball game.  It works best if you can find a place where the sun is shining down on you.  Imagine that you are connected to the earth with your feet and your head is connected to heaven.  Simply gaze down at the floor and begin to take a few deep breaths.  Breathe slowly and deeply.  Starting with your feet begin to feel each part of your body begin to relax.  Imagine all of your stress going out the top of your head as you give it to God.  Relax for a few moments and as the sun’s rays fall on you, imagine the Lord’s face shining upon you and showering you with the grace of his love.  Receive it gratefully and let it flow to your heart and throughout your body.  Feel the inner peace that the Lord is giving to you.  Realize that circumstances never take you away from God’s peace and grace.  Even in the worst of circumstances, God’s face is shining upon us and is offering us peace.   This peace is yours as a gift if you will just take a few minutes to connect with God and receive it.  May the Lord bless you and keep you;  the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;  the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace
