Youth Activities

The Youth activities of the De Soto United Methodist Church are open to all students from 6th through 12 grades. Students are invited to participate in a variety of activities that guide them in growing as Jesus’ disciples and in building community. Activities include: regular gatherings, special events, service projects, confirmation, worship leadership, outreach, lock-ins, mission trips, and more. Friends are ALWAYS welcome!
Staff and volunteers who work with children & youth complete the Safe Gatherings Certification, a biblically based boundary awareness and abuse prevention program developed to certify volunteer workers, staff and clergy.

Sunday School
Middle-school and high-school students are invited for lively discussion, fun activities, and, of course food, as they experience a Bible lesson that connects life and faith. This group meets 9 a.m. on Sundays.

Youth Group
Our Youth Group is for 6th through 12th grade students. We gather three to four times per month, September through April, with special activities in the summer months. We vary our gatherings between regular Sunday evening meetings at the church, to service projects, annual events, and fun outings in the community. Some activities are for all youth ages, while other activities are focused for middle school or high school groups separately. Please view our current newsletter or church calendar for this month’s gatherings. Join us for faith, friends, food, fun & fellowship!

Confirmation
Confirmation is offered every other year for students in 6th through 12th grades. Students participate in Confirmation classes, mentor meetings, a retreat, plus additional service and learning outings over fourteen to sixteen weeks. These activities are in preparation of the worship service in which the students publicly affirm their embrace of the Christian faith on their own.
